Remain of a 13th century stone keep

In 1093, the first Norman motte and bailey was erected by Bernard de Neufmarch.

The first wooden castle was destroyed by Llewelyn ap Lortwerth in 1231, and again two years 

later after being rebuilt n stone by Humphrey de Bohun.

The castle now stands in the grounds of Brecon Castle Hotel.
